  Ho Chi Minh City  Parks

Saigon Water Park

Location: Saigon Water Park is located on Go Dua Bridge, Kha Van Street, Linh Dong Ward, Thu Duc District, Ho Chi Minh City.
Characteristics: Saigon Water Park was opened on December 13th, 1997, providing water entertainment, the first - ever park built in Vietnam to international standards.

With new games, some with high speeds that give visitors great thrills, the Park leaders take visitors¡¯ safety as their prime objective. Among the 300 staff are 70 lifeguards who guide and protect visitors on the entertainment rides. These lifeguards are trained in international emergency and granted certificates by the World Water Park Association. At the park gate, there is a medical station with professional medical workers on duty during the opening hours. For the complete safety of the visitors, smoking is only allowed in designed areas.

Visitors need not know how to swim, but have to wear swimsuits. The "Water slides, Raft rides", from a height of 15m, consists of six slides, and visitors slide over 120m of zigzag circles before flying to a blue water lake. Two persons can slide together on special slides. Multi-slides and twisters are also provided which consist of two-slide twittering into each other from a height of 12m and are 70m long.

Visitors may swim or use rubber rings to play in the Wave Pool. Every ten minutes, there is an artificial wave, one meter high. Those who want to relax can use buoys to float on the Lazy River, 350m long, and enjoy the fresh natural air and see the entire park, shaded with many trees. There is a special swimming pool reserved for children.

Besides the road, visitors can take a tourist ship from Bach Dang wharf in the city center and travel along the Saigon Rive, in order to reach the Park (this requires reservations). Tickets to the Park are VND 60,000 per person and allow the own- to join in any ride for as long as they like. Children below 1.1 in high are charged VND 50,000. Visitors to the Park are not allowed to bring food nor drinks to keep the Park clean. Instead, they are served with European and Asian dishes at restaurants. Souvenir articles, swimming suits and towels, hats, anti - sun cream, etc are sold in the Park.

Vietnam Travel Guides

Hanoi,Vietnam's small and pleasant capital lies at the heart of the northern Red River Delta, and is a city of lakes, leafy boulevards and open parks with a French colonial feel. Hanoi was founded in 1010, and became the centre of government for the Indochina Union under French rule in 1888. In 1954 it became the official capital of independent Vietnam. Today ancient crumbling buildings dating from the 11th century lie scattered among grand French colonial residences, while shrines and monuments to Vietnam's first president, Ho Chi Minh, sit in the shadow of modern high-rise buildings. The streets of the Old Quarter preserve age-old customs, where trade takes one back half a century, and temples, pagodas and monuments reflect the historic character of Vietnam. Although a city of historical importance, and the social and cultural centre of Vietnam, it is a surprisingly modest and charming place, far slower and less developed than Ho Chi Minh City in the south. Hanoi has retained its appealing sense of the old world, despite the onset of a brisk tourism trade in 1993, absorbing the boom of hotels, travellers' hangouts and internet cafes, and the gradual infiltration of western-style food and fashions into the once inaccessible city. As the early morning mist rises from the serene Hoan Kiem Lake, tracksuit-clad elders perform the slow movements of tai chi, like park statues coming to life. Streets become filled with activity, mopeds and bicycles weave among pedestrians, while cyclo drivers (three-wheeled bicycle taxis) clamour for attention, and postcard vendors cluster around tourists like bees sensing an open honey pot. Hanoi is fast becoming one of the most enticing and interesting cities in Asia. As a cultural centre there are traditional water puppet shows, and music and dance performances. It is also a good base for excursions to the beautiful Halong Bay, or into the Hoang Lien Mountains inhabited by several hill tribes.
