         Lily

Lily - Tour DirectorLily----the beautiful flower, is my English name. Though the name is very ordinary, I have good reasons to love it, because I do love this kind of flower. It is so beautiful, pure and sweet-scented that it always makes people happy and peaceful, especially its aftertaste which is unforgettable!! As be a guide, I would like to be such one like the flower.

I got the professional Certificate of English-speaking Guide in 2000. In fact, with more than 3 years of guiding and having received nearly 100 groups in all (from 2000 to now), I really know how to be a happy guide and transfer my happiness to my guests. I believe: Good service and sense of trust is the first thing for a good guide; Knowledge is very important for a professional guide; Further study and sense of humor are the basic things for an excellent guide!!

After graduating from SICHUAN INTERNATIONAL STUDIES UNIVERSITY in 1994, I had worked for 2 years as an interpreter in BEIHAI INTERNATIONAL SEAMEN’S CLUB (from 1994 to 1996), and then as one of the organizers and also the translator for GUANGXI INTERNATIONAL BUILDING and ECORATIVE MATERIALS EXHIBITION FAIR in 1996 and 1997, and after that I worked as a teacher in GUILIN LINGCHUAN COUNTY ADMINISTRATIVE COLLEGE (from 1997 to 2000).

I have already had such experiences on teaching Civil Servants’ English, Professional Post English and Public Relations. Obviously, I tried different kinds of occupations and experienced a lot, which make me more skillful to be a professional guide, more flexible to face those unexpected events and more knowledgeable to communicate with others. With my rich experience and my constant study, I believe that one day my dream will become true! I really cherish the job of guiding, it is so different from others and always brings me fun!

My motto is:
What guide is to his guests, as fish is to water. Without water, fish can’t be alive, and without guests, guide can’t survive. So be a kind ,happy and professional guide and then we will have happy guests and happy groups!!

Hanoi,Vietnam's small and pleasant capital lies at the heart of the northern Red River Delta, and is a city of lakes, leafy boulevards and open parks with a French colonial feel. Hanoi was founded in 1010, and became the centre of government for the Indochina Union under French rule in 1888. In 1954 it became the official capital of independent Vietnam. Today ancient crumbling buildings dating from the 11th century lie scattered among grand French colonial residences, while shrines and monuments to Vietnam's first president, Ho Chi Minh, sit in the shadow of modern high-rise buildings. The streets of the Old Quarter preserve age-old customs, where trade takes one back half a century, and temples, pagodas and monuments reflect the historic character of Vietnam. Although a city of historical importance, and the social and cultural centre of Vietnam, it is a surprisingly modest and charming place, far slower and less developed than Ho Chi Minh City in the south. Hanoi has retained its appealing sense of the old world, despite the onset of a brisk tourism trade in 1993, absorbing the boom of hotels, travellers' hangouts and internet cafes, and the gradual infiltration of western-style food and fashions into the once inaccessible city. As the early morning mist rises from the serene Hoan Kiem Lake, tracksuit-clad elders perform the slow movements of tai chi, like park statues coming to life. Streets become filled with activity, mopeds and bicycles weave among pedestrians, while cyclo drivers (three-wheeled bicycle taxis) clamour for attention, and postcard vendors cluster around tourists like bees sensing an open honey pot. Hanoi is fast becoming one of the most enticing and interesting cities in Asia. As a cultural centre there are traditional water puppet shows, and music and dance performances. It is also a good base for excursions to the beautiful Halong Bay, or into the Hoang Lien Mountains inhabited by several hill tribes.
